Dr. levy received his medical degree from American University in 1984. He subsequently did his residency in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College from 1984-987. He later did his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Miami School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fl from 1987-1990. Dr. Levy then spent several months in Seattle at the University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center where he cared for patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation.
Dr. Levy has been in practice since the early 1990's. He has been afiliated with the Memorial Hospital System in South Florida since the mid 1990's. His practice encompasses general oncology, including Hematologic Malignancies as well as benign Hematology. Dr. Levy is not only experienced in the care of patients with cancer and providing standard of care but also committed to understanding the scientific advances in cancer treatments.
Perhaps Dr. Levy's most unique qualities are his compassion and empathy for all patients as well as his ability to communicate with others. Dr. Levy takes pride in allowing his patients and family members all the time necessary during their consultations with him. These characteristics in a physician are essential in ameliorating the fear and desperation that a cancer diagnosis can provoke.
Dr. levy's special interest is in the integration of mind-body therapies and standard cancer treatment. Interventions such as meditation, hypnosis, yoga, and music therapy are beneficial as adjuncts to cancer treatment. It is Dr. Levy's belief that techniques such as these can mitigate the emotional stress experienced by cancer patients and, in turn, potentiate the patient's capacity to tolerate and, perhaps, respond to chemotherapy.
